About

Since I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a writer in some sense.  Growing up on a small farm in southeastern Virginia afforded me plenty of imaginary time, playtime with farm animals, hiking with my dog, Toby, and cat, Princess; and daydreaming who I would be when I became an adult.  My favorite time to create stories and songs was while waiting for the bus or walking up our long dirt driveway.  Little did I know then that the path of life would lead me into science and medicine.

Forty years later, I found myself in a career that brought me very little fulfillment.  It was that unhappiness that gave me the courage to begin to write and put my heart and soul into something that would define me outside of my career.  I took an at home writing course and the travel writing began,

I currently live in Key West Florida and am a full-time Physician Assistant, but my passion is traveling and writing about it. My published work includes topics on travel, medicine, and wellness.  I have also co-authored 2 medical research grants.

After living in Charleston SC for 9 years, I often tout myself as a “food snob”.   When I decided to relocate to Key West for island living, I struggled with giving up the food scene.  I was pleasantly surprised to find the food scene is not lacking for much from what I left in Charleston; other than the pretentiousness.  After Covid put a damper on travel, I decided put a spin to my writing career and began guiding food tours.

The Wanderful Journey was born to share my love of life, travel, food, and writing as well as to influence others who may want to take that leap of faith but are looking for some inspiration to help them along.
